Mr Hemraj Ramdath 

Hemraj Ramdath, a Business Consultant, has spent the past 4 decades working in executive management in Oil and Gas and the Consumer Goods sectors. He is the former Vice President Strategy & Business Development at Petrotrin, the National Oil Co of Trinidad & Tobago; Barbados Country Manager for Shell Oil Company and Vice President, Global Business at S.M Jaleel Ltd, the Caribbean’s largest beverage manufacturer with a global footprint in more than 65 countries.

Mr. Ramdath began his career with the United Nations (UNECLA) as a research fellow undertaking country reports in the Caribbean countries. In 1977, he joined Shell Oil Co as the Aviation Marketing Manager with responsibility for fueling contracts at 29 airports in the Spanish, French, Dutch and English Caribbean. In 1985, he moved to the position of Country Manager Barbados, with responsibility for expanding the shell footprint in retail, marine, industry and aviation.

In 1997, Hemraj took up the position of Vice President Global Business Development with S.M.Jaleel, a major beverage player, based in Canada, to rollout a brand plan for its flagship brand Chubby, across USA, Canada and Latin America. In 2012, he was recruited from Canada to the newly created position of VP Strategy and Business Development at Petrotrin, based in Trinidad. His mandate was to widen the market for energy based finished products, while seeking to diversify the product offerings. Hemraj has since returned to Canada and currently works as a business consultant to establish a distribution facility in Miami for several Caribbean exporters and global brands.

Mr. Ramdath holds a combined honors degree from York University Toronto in Political Science and Economics (BA hons) and an Executive Masters of Business (EMBA 1995) from the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business, UWI Trinidad, with specialization in global trade. Mr. Ramdath was named Alumni of the year 2015 and honored by presenting a paper on “Climate change- Challengers and Opportunities”. In January 2019, Hemraj presented a paper at several educational institutions during Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, at the diaspora conference in Magadh University Bodhgaya, Bihar, BHU and DAV postgraduate college in Varanasi.

He has been an executive member of Nritanjali theatre, a forerunner to Kathak Kala Sangam; a Charter member of the Rotary club of Barbados south, past member of Rotary Club of Port of Spain; a life member of the national Council for Indian Culture, and was instrumental in monetizing of Divali Nagar during its formative years.
